Keeping Fit And Healthy When You’re Pregnant

Keeping fit during your pregnancy is great for you, not only will it help you keep your body toned but it also can help when it comes time to push that baby out. Every pregnant woman wants to be able to go back to her pre-pregnancy weight after the baby is born, but the only way to do that is to make sure you can. By excising or working out every day you are making sure you don’t add fat to your body. During labor it’ll be much easier to push the baby if you’ve been strengthening your leg and stomach muscles. Who knows, it may even make labor a little bit shorter. Isn’t that what we all want?
In addition to feeling tired all the time, pregnancy can cause you to experience mood swings and some depression. And lite exercise, even walking a block or two a day, can help lift your spirits, and helps you grow a healthier baby at the same time.
Here are a few quick things you can do to stay fit during pregnancy, without really having to break a sweat. I’m sure by now you’ve heard of yoga, this is a very good thing for you to practice, especially if you haven’t always been in the best of shape. Not to worry, there are easy ways to begin with warming up levels here, you don’t have to jump into the twists and turns right away. Try purchasing a set of small weights that you can use throughout the house, like hand weights or wrist weights that can use while walking. Instead of just laying on the couch while you rest you can be lifting small weights.
Naturally, you’ll want to check with your doctor before you begin exercising, however, lite exercise is simple and easy. Just sitting down in a chair and standing up and sitting and standing for two to three minutes at a time, provides a simple but effective way to work out without sweating.
Try running, walking or jogging outside. Not only will this boost up your energy but it’ll also help get your spirits up, especially if you’ve been inside all day. Remember, if you are going for a walk to always bring a drink with you. You don’t want to dehydrate out there. Always make sure that you are wearing comfortable shoes, before you leave the house. If you didn’t always run, ask your doctor if you can. Sometimes a doctor may suggest you walk around the block at first and increase it from there, if you didn’t always do it before you were pregnant.
If you can you may want to try going for a swim or try bicycling. However, if you find that you are accident prone you may want to stay away from the bike. A bike accident is something that can easily happen, even when you’ve always road a bike. Swimming can help you relax and stay cool. Take a dip in the pool near you, they may even have a swim class for pregnant women in your area. This would be a great way to meet other moms.
Whenever you are doing exercises, make sure you aren’t overdoing it. If you believe you could be stop immediately and take a break. You never want to do anything that will cause harm when you are pregnant.

Trying To Choose The Sex Of Your Baby Carries Risk Of Disappointment
March 17, 2010 by Kathy Forcey
Great strides in medical reproductive science have been made over the last few decades. Indeed, it’s now possible to safely increase the odds of having either a boy or a girl, which is something that would have been unheard of just half a century ago. So, when choosing sex of baby, whether boy or girl, what should people who are contemplating such an option know about “gender selection,” as it’s called?
Gender selection is a way to increase the odds of having a boy or a girl once a series of techniques or strategies have been carried out before pregnancy occurs. There are a number of different methods which can increase the odds of desired gender occurrence, and they have success rates which vary, with some coming close to one-hundred percent.
Currently, a number of non-clinical commercially-available sex selection kits are on the market which claims to use natural supplements to do the same thing as what’s accomplished in clinical medicine-type processes. These over-the-counter kits state that they deliver a success rate running upwards of 96 percent. They all say they help to make changes in the prospective parents’ body chemistries to make sex selection a certainty.
Clinical-medical procedures center on several different procedures. A fairly popular technique – which is called MicroSort – sorts out male sperm that differs in the characteristics of its DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) such that it’s possible to categorize those sperm which could lead to a male or a female child.
After the sperm has been sorted so that only those most likely to lead to a male or a female (by preference) are left, the next step in the process is to use either intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF) to place the “enriched” sperm into the uterus of the female or to fertilize the ovum (egg) of the female. Success rate for girls approaches 92 percent and is lower, at 81 percent, for boys.
Always remember, though, that a successful pregnancy must first occur before anything else. In this regard, intrauterine insemination runs about sixteen percent for pregnancy and in vitro fertilization comes in at about thirty-two percent. These rates are usual, and are in line with most any other method for bringing about pregnancy.
It’s comforting to know, that there are a wide range of options for attempting gender selection for a couple or a hopeful-mother desiring a child of one sex or the other. The chances of such a happenstance occurring, indeed, are greater than ever before. Just make sure to investigate each procedure careful and put in some time on careful research before going through with such a process.
Some people want choices in relationships , it sounds like some type of medical experiment but there are plenty of people who promise that it is possible to choose to have a boy or girl. http://relationship-answers.com
Why Use A Hospital Grade Breast Pump
March 11, 2010 by Jenny Belle

The most recommended breast pump available to new moms who are breast feeding is the hospital grade breast pump. The power of these pumps help to stimulate a moms breasts, and help the body as it raises prolactin hormones and oxytocin hormone levels. This helps to to produce the most breast milk.
There are personal breast pumps available for use, but hospital grade breast pumps are FDA approved to be used by more than one mother. A personal breast pump can only be used by a single mom.
Hospital pumps have built in precautions that help to preclude any type contamination. When used in a hospital, each mom is given her own collection kit.
Using the hospital pump is going to give you a better experience as they are stronger and more durable. This allows them to be more powerful, because their motors are stronger. Even a personal pump that costs the most money can not match one of these. The level of suction is very strong and this leads to great suction and successful pumping.
There is one drawback to these stronger and heavier pumps though. They are bulkier and therefore a little more difficult to take back and forth to work then a personal pump might be. However, they do have a three-year warranty versus a twelve month warranty of a personal pump. They are meant to last.
If you have a sick or premature baby, twin, need to increase your milk supply, or just need to begin lactating, hospital pumps are great for these types of situations. They are quite sturdy and are meant to be used often on a daily basis.
Hospital pumps are great for any type of pumping situation. They are sturdy and can be used daily and frequently. There are some special circumstances when a hospital pump is especially recommended. If you have a premature or a sick child, twin, you need to increase our milk supply, or you need to begin lactation.
The cost of these sturdy and efficient pumps is definitely more than a personal pump. However, they can be rented. Hospitals rent them as well as lactation consultants.

The Significance Of Watching Your Diet When Pregnant

Maternity can be a wonderful thing although it can also be an incredibly stressful time for many women. Hormonal fluctuations are one thing, the tiredness as well as the change in body shape can be quite distressing for some.
Stretch marks, sagging boobs, and pants that simply fail to go on the way they would once. Most females just find it so tough to keep their self-esteem up when their bodies are under-going such significant changes.
Have you ever wondered how those Hollywood celebrities manage to get pregnant and still look amazing? These guys can make just about anything look sexy, can’t they? What’s their secret?
Before going on, one must always understand that gaining some weight during pregnancy is nature’s way in offering sustenance to your baby. Starting a diet program is not advisable!
Putting on an excessive amount of pounds might cause pregnancy complications as well as jeopardize a baby’s well being. So be mindful of that. Research have shown that women who put on a lot of weight during pregnancy usually end up working ten times harder than other women who maintained their weight all the way till child birth.
Say you decided to monitor your weight in the early stages, you’ll have a less difficult time afterward in getting your old body back.
If you’re in this situation it is advised that you start keeping track of your weight and eat healthy foods at reasonable quantities that are good for both you and your baby.
This is not a very hard thing to do, but you will need to have the will power to fight those cravings (which will come and go) and avoid eating junk food that is only going to make your weight maintenance goals even harder to reach.
Despite what you might have heard or read in magazines, getting some exercise will do you and your baby a world of good as well. You shouldn’t be doing any excessive activity or going for kick-boxing aerobics clearly, just stick to the light exercise like walking on a treadmill for instance.
Looking beautiful during as well as after maternity seriously isn’t impossible. If others have achieved it, then so can you. All that’s required is to stay focused and start your routine with little baby steps, and very soon you will develop a healthy lifestyle that requires very little effort from you to maintain.

Problem Getting Pregnant?

If you are having a problem getting pregnant, then having the full picture of what it takes to attain fertilization is really important.
At the time of ovulation, the fallopian tube will pick up the new egg after it bursts out of the ovarian wall. Within seconds, the fimbria (the end of the fallopian tube) will snatch the egg up and draw it inside the tube. If an egg remains unfertilized it can live for up to twenty four hours, and after dying it will be absorbed by the body or it will disintegrate and come out with the menses.
If there is success and fertilization occurs this will actually take place in the fallopian tube. Contrary to popular belief, fertilization does not take place in the uterus. The whole journey of the sperm to the egg in the fallopian tubes can take a good number of hours. The egg gets to the uterus after fertilization by the help of little vibrating cilia, kind of like tiny hairs which line the inside of the fallopian tubes. After a journey of around a week, the egg will reach the uterine lining, where it will finally begin the task of burying itself in the nutrient-rich lining.
If you are having a problem getting pregnant, it is important to remember that conception requires three things to take place: the sperm, the egg and most importantly a conduit for the egg and sperm to travel safely in the hostile vaginal environment.
The aforementioned medium is the cervical mucus that resembles eggwhites, which is a special fertile-fluid. It is this cervical fluid which will allows the sperm to travel to the cervix in safety and unite with the waiting egg. This amazing fertile mucus is produced with rising levels of estrogen in the first part of the cycle, and is at its best at the time of ovulation. This fertile fluid allows sperm to survive inside for as long as five days – so its completely possible that a naughty night out on Saturday can get you pregnant at your office desk on Wednesday!
As it would be a total disaster for a pregnant body if the lining of the uterus were to disintegrate as it usually does in normal cycles, the body does an amazing trick and stops this from happening. The body will start to produce a hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) when a fertilised egg burrows into the uterus, which stops the lining from being discarded. This hormone sends a message directly to the corpus luteum (fancy for the lining of the uterus) and tells it to keep on kicking for a while longer. The corpus luteum will continue to maintain itself for a couple of months till the placenta is ready to take over and the placenta will then maintain the lining as well as provide oxygen and nourishment to the growing foetus.
False-negative pregnancy tests are usually received if the test has been done too soon, because the whole process can take a while, and the test is measuring HCG, so if it hasn’t been produced yet, the test will come back negative even if an egg is fertilised. When women chart their cycles, they are more likely to know when a pregnancy has occurred from the first point of implantation because of the notable changes in the cycle.
When couples are having a problem getting pregnant it really is vital that they fully understand the process involved in getting pregnant, because unlike what our mums tell us as youths, for some getting pregnant is not that easy.

Information About Infertility Stress
January 27, 2010 by Adrian Logan
Infertility is considered as one of the most stressful situations that any couple has to go through. The treatments for it can contribute to the stress that the couple goes through. Just by knowing that the treatment can add stress, the couple gets more stress and it can worsen their chances of getting pregnant.
But what are some of the factors behind infertility stress? What causes it?
Firstly, it can begin from knowing you are infertile. After having sex for a long time, the couple finds they are unable to have children and they seek medical attention. One or both could very well end up feeling depressed and inadequate when the specialist diagnosis says it is due to infertility.
Secondly, further stress can be added to the couple who has decided to undergo infertility treatments. Such treatments can prove exceedingly and prohibitively expensive depending on the treatments required.
And the process itself of having to go in and out of doctors’ waiting rooms and hospitals, among other places, waiting with bated breath for results can surely add more stress on top of the existing stress,
Thirdly, the stress can be added from the lovemaking itself. Many couples may not be able to get past the fact that they are unable to bear children normally. This can make things very hard for them because they may have to make recourse to more medical procedures if they are unable to consummate the sexual act.
In addition, sex may feel forced and even something of a chore for the couple, since they would have to be doing it according to a schedule and in order to produce children instead of simply enjoying one another and/or giving each other pleasure.
In addition, having to undergo fertility treatments may be even more demeaning for men, who may very well feel emasculated and feel that they are responsible if they are unable to produce babies with their wives. Plus it may prove extremely embarrassing to have to produce semen in doctors’ offices, for instance – or to have other people aside from their wives learn that they have low sperm count or, worse, erectile problems.
It is extremely important to consider how the couple responds to such stress in the first place. Some can simply take it in stride and be positive even in the face of potential failure; others can be negative right at the outset even if the future for them might not be so bleak, and immediately contemplate having to adopt children while agonizing over how unfair things seem to be, and so on and so forth. This can result in a drastic lowering of self-esteem for couples and individuals.
Infertility can cause many couples to go through extreme strain. Many couples buckle under this strain, and many of them end up breaking up. There are some who end up stronger couples after going through this experience.
If you are struggling to get pregnant, then you need to discover about a holistic and ancient Chinese system for getting pregnant and having healthy children. Reverse both female and male infertility issues and improve the quality of your life dramatically!
Weight Loss After Pregnancy
It is to be expected after pregnancy that your body will have some left-over fat, and while most new mothers want to get rid of unwanted fat and cellulite as soon as possible, this can be easier said than done, this can be easier said than done.
A newborn baby ends up taking so much time and attention that the last thing you may feel like you have room for in your schedule is a diet and exercise routine to lose weight. However, as you will see, the added time pressure will not prevent you from getting rid of the extra pounds as long as you do it right and have the right mindset. Below are three easy tips that you can start using right away to begin losing post-pregnancy pounds:
1. Avoid junk food: Cravings can be difficult to avoid, especially if you are under stress and not getting enough sleep, but this one step is one of the most crucial things you can do to start losing weight and avoid putting any more on. Not only does junk food prevent you from losing weight, but it can sap your energy levels, clog your digestive system, and introduce toxins into your body that are difficult to get rid of.
At the same time, you do not have to starve yourself – small, frequent meals are better for you anyway, so you need not go any more than three hours or so without food. Just make sure that you are making good nutritional choices like lean protein, complex carbohydrates and fiber, and avoiding sugar and refined carbs.
2. Work out: Keep in mind that “working out” does not necessarily mean you have to plan trips to the gym or buy expensive exercise equipment. Instead, you can simply try to take a 20 to 30-minute jog four or five days a week, whenever you find time. Even three times a week will give you a lot of benefits. When combined with a healthy diet, simple jogging will give you visible results in a matter of weeks, and you will begin to find yourself more energetic and better able to face the challenges of the day.
3. Maintaining a positive outlook: Having a positive attitude can be the difference between success and failure if you are trying to lose weight, a goal that takes more will-power than just about anything else for most people. If you can find ways of staying motivated, it will help your progress. Try keeping a weight-loss journal with a pre-pregnancy picture of yourself and track your progress by weighing yourself and taking a progress photograph weekly (or maybe once every two weeks in the very beginning). As you begin to see visible results, you will feel good about continuing.
If you follow these three basic steps, you will achieve the fat-loss results you are looking for in less time than you think.

The ABC’s of Breastfeading
From the first moment an infant begins to breastfeed, it must be nursed with a plan in mind. This is necessary to the well-being of the baby, and will contribute essentially to preserve the health of the parent also. With a plan in mind your duty will likely become a pleasure.
This does require however, careful attention on the part of the mother to her own health; for that of her child is essentially dependent upon it. Healthy, nourishing, and digestible milk can be produced only from a healthy parent; and it is against common sense to expect that, if a mother impairs her health and digestion by improper diet, neglect of exercise, and impure air, she can provide a wholesome and uncontaminated fluid for her child. She must be diligently attentive to these important points. Every impurity of the mother is likely to affect the infant.
Smoking is of course a huge no-no to both a pregnant mother and a nursing mother. In pregnancy smoking can possible lead to birth defects and more commonly low birth weight. Even once your baby is born smoking around them is potentially terrible for their health. Second hand smoke as well as the poisons you are putting into your body will ultimately transfer to your baby through your breast milk.
The other big no-no is alcohol. Most doctors agree that the occasional glass of wine is OK during pregnancy, but you should still be careful that you do not overdo it. This is also true during the nursing phase. Many babies do not react well to breast milk from mothers who drink even moderately.
Also be careful of the foods that you expose you child to both in the womb and while you are nursing. There are many guides available online that can help you in your dieting decisions. Your doctor should also be able to provide you with some good advice on what you should and should not eat while pregnant and while nursing.
Remember your new baby is totally dependent on your good judgment. Always think in terms of what you do or do not want to expose your new baby to and you will both likely be healthy and happy.
