Becoming a new Mom can be a wonderful yet daunting experience, there are so many new things to learn that it can often be overwhelming.
The key to being a stress free mom is to relax and to try to get your baby into a routine as quickly as possible. A good routine is imperative for both mum and baby so that you can plan your day while your baby feels secure.
If you can plan the day and adopt a routine then you should be able to fit in some chilling time while the baby sleeps. At the start it’s quite difficult to do this as there’s so much to do but that’s why planning is the key. Without a plan you won’t get 5 mins rest which is not good for you nor the baby.
When I was pregnant I didn’t have a clue of what to buy for my impending delivery as there are so many gimmicky products on the market I wasn’t sure which ones were worth the cost! So I’ve devised a list below of ten of the things I found most useful for my baby and also for myself.
1. If bottle feeding, invest in the anti colic bottles they are worth it as they reduce the amount of air your baby will swallow.
2. Your baby is used to being all snug in your womb so to replicate this feeling, make sure you swaddle your baby. There are many great baby swaddling blankets on the market today with easy instructions to follow on how to makie your baby snug.
3. When your baby starts teething and drooling a bandana bib is a must as they are the funky alternative to a normal bib, they look like a scarf so co-ordinate with the baby’s outfit. We love the bibs bandana range which are not only reasonable priced but are favored by the stars kids too!
4. Buy the therma bottle bags as you can make a bottle up before you go out and they will keep the bottle at the same temp for up to 4 hrs.
5. Buy some great easy to follow recipe books for weaning your toddler. I love the Annabel Karmel Range!
6. A buggy is a must have item as they are so much easier than hefty travel systems. They also fit into your car easily without any effort. You can now get strollers from 0 months so they can be used for your newborn just make sure they go back almost flat.
7. Buy a sleeping bag which will be used when baby grows out of the swaddling miracle blanket.
8. A sterilizer that goes into the microwave oven purely to save time and easy to use!
9. A UV tent is a must in the hot months.
10. If all else fails invest in a Gina Ford Contented Baby Book a lot of people criticize but it is the best selling baby book for a reason!
Finally, have a great time as a mum do what you think is best for your baby you will know. Don’t worry what other say or think be yourself and love youyr baby. That’s the best thing for your baby ..a mothers love. Have fun with the ups and downs that motherhood brings and realise how lucky we are to be part of such an amazing club!
Final say- go to a mother and baby group to make friends and share concerns and tips with others in the same position as you.
Baby dribbling? Get a bandana bibs that will keep your child looking stylish even when they dribble!
