Dealing With Temper Tantrums

Toddlers throw temper tantrums from time to time and some are really good at it. If you happen to have the knack for parenting you will be able to stop a temper tantrum almost as soon as it has started. Many parents will try to stop the temper tantrum right away by giving in to whatever the child is having the temper tantrum about. However it is best to let the temper tantrum go through the steps it needs to take.
When a child is between the ages of two to five years old, temper tantrums will start. Prior to putting a halt on temper tantrums you will first need to figure out why they have started. First and foremost you should keep in mind that your toddler might be hungry, toddlers eat less and more frequently then an adult. You need to show by modeling that temper tantrums are not productive. It is also a good thing to let your toddler have some different options to let them feel as thought they have the control this should prevent some temper tantrums.
If a temper tantrum erupts for no good reason it is best to ignore the child as much as possible, as long as they are not harming themselves or anybody around them. When you are doing this it will make you feel as though you are not a great parent but it will have your child feel as though they are not getting anywhere with their tantrum. If you keep this up the temper tantrums will soon get shorter every time until eventually they will stop completely. If you react to the temper tantrum by giving in every time your toddler will feel as though this is what they need to do to get what they want. You need to be the boss, not your child.
Over time your child’s temper tantrums should stop. If not you and your child should see a doctor about your child’s behavior. There might be some medical reason why your child is acting this way.
Tantrums can be annoying. However, they need to be handled with patience.

A huge portion of the population knows what midwives do for the pregnant women some are still in the dark about this. We see lots of women giving birth at home in our generation. You will find out that women choose to give birth at home because it is cheaper and can be very comfortable as compared to giving birth in a hospital. This page will discuss the roles that a midwife plays in the home birthing process.
A midwife is someone who has acquired the qualifications to be registered and to legally practice midwifery. She must be able to give the necessary supervision, care and advice to women during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period. How To Conceive A Baby Girl
Would you like to bring balance to your family by adding a little baby girl? Does your husband long for his “daddy’s little girl”?
Regardless of your reasons there are simple, at home, all natural steps you can take that can put the odds in your favor. How much in your favor? How about raising your odds from 50/50 to over 94%!
A simple three step system was developed by the late Dr. Landrum Shettles, and his simple methods have helped countless thousands of couples successfully choose the gender of their babies. Now let’s take a quick look at these steps more detail shall we?
1. You need to learn how to predict your day of ovulation. I realize this is difficult for some women, but you’ll need to know when your going to ovulate, as this is a very important in order to time when to have sex to conceive.
2. Have sex to conceive in the right way. What do I mean by that? Well you’ll want to have sex in positions that will allow for shallow penetration if you are wanting to conceive a baby girl.
3. You’ll need to control your body’s ph. There are test strips available at my site to help you keep track of you ph and help you know when the time is right! You can control your ph with your diet and taking a few supplements (over time) or much quicker by douching with the right solution, (although because of the risk of infections I would recommend using douching only under your doctors supervision.)
These techniques while being low-tech and easy to implement will still need to be implemented with precision and diligence if you are to be successful in conceiving that baby girl you desire.
You can visit my site for more information or links to one of the guides you’ll need as an ebook you can purchase and download in minutes. If you are truly serious about gender selection, you should seek all the help you can, and even if you fail in your attempt of conceiving a baby girl, you may still have a beautiful baby boy to love and cherish.

Shopping For Seats For Babies?

A high chair is one piece of baby furniture that you just cannot neglect. They come in really handy whether you’re feeding your baby at home, or out in a restaurant (we shall cover more on this later). When investing in a chair, don’t try and be stingy with money – put in a few more dollars to buy something that’s going to help make feeding times more convenient.
With a huge variety of baby chairs out there, what are your options? With the help of this article, you will be able to understand the safety criteria and choose a better high chair for your baby, and one that suits your requirements.
Baby high chairs come in 2 varieties. The foldable and the non-foldables. The high chair can be the classic wooden or a light-weight aluminum chair that can be effortlessly shifted from room to room, or stored in the boot of the family car. Their purpose? To raise the baby to table height so that so she can join the rest of the family for a meal.
Despite all the nice extras, security is vital. Since toddlers tend to wiggle around a lot, you really need a high chair that is sturdy enough to not fall over. It is compulsory these days to also include a harness that prevents your kid from falling off the chair as well.
When it comes to a practical high chair, you really only need to satisfy a few criteria, such as being easy to clean, can be folded (if you have a smaller room) when not in use, and come with multiple trays that can be detached and put in the dishwasher.
Mobile or portable chairs are also a great idea if you want something that you can easily carry around with you when the entire family goes out for a meal. Most high chairs in restaurants are not dependable as they aren’t sturdy as well as unhygienic, carrying with them lots of germs that can get your baby very sick.
Portable seats or high chairs these days are fairly inexpensive and they’re well worth considering. Most of the current models will allow you to hook the seat over a chair via a sling. Most importantly, the portable baby seat should be light enough so you don’t strain yourself carrying around and it should also include a good height-adjustable feature.
In some cases, where there might not be enough spare chairs about, baby seats with clips may come in handy. These baby seats can be attached to any table so your infant can join in on the family action. Just a word of caution though, make sure the table is solid and stable enough to handle the extra weight of the seat.

The receiver runs on batteries, to enable you to carry it around with you, whilst the transmitter is plugged into an outlet. Most will have back-up batteries in case of a loss of power.

Ideas On How To Avoid Sibling Competition

Anybody with more than one child in their family is only too aware of the sibling rivalry. It is a natural part of growing up, and there is always going to be the odd scuffle now and then.
To try to make it a little easier. You could always try what is known as passive parenting.
Everybody knows that the start of most fighting is when one child tells on another child, even for the most trivial thing, just to try to get them into trouble. Why not set a few ground rules? It is okay to tell on somebody if they are hurting you or if they are being destructive in the home or with your things, but if they tell over something more trivial it is them that will get into trouble!
Instead of always sorting out their problems all the time, occasionally just say something along the lines of “wow that must really annoy you” do not always fix the problem but offer a statement instead,
If they keep coming back with the same complaint, then you keep giving them the same answer. This will annoy them at first, but they will soon realize that perhaps they can sort it out for themselves. This may not always work, but should work some of the time.
Your children should be encouraged to set their own rules for what is right and what is wrong.
Bedrooms can be a starting point. Make sure that the siblings must not enter each others bedroom unless they have asked for permission to do so first.
Making sure that siblings can sort out their own problems can make them grow up to be a more confident person, because after all sibling rivalry is always going to be there.

The Right Way to Manage Your Toddler’s Feelings
April 14, 2010 by Sarabelle Ando
Now that your two-year-old is beginning to understand the impact that he has on the world around him, he is also starting to become aware that other people may not see the world in quite the same way.
During the toddler years these “dangers” may include, for example, being left to cry for long periods, picking up on parental tension or unhappiness, and being yelled at. Anxiety triggers a powerful and automatic reaction within the most primitive part of the brain that drives our instinct for survival.
When we experience intense emotions, such as anger, fear, and even excitement, the brain tells the body to release stress hormones that will either make us challenge the situation (fight), or run away from it (flight). These “fight or flight” hormones, especially adrenaline and cortisol, then block the production of “feel good” hormones, such as oxytocin.
Everyone experiences anxiety, but some people deal with these feelings better than others. we now know that our ability to cope has its roots in our childhood experiences. During the toddler years, a child relies almost totally on caring adults to help him to manage his “big” feelings.
However, children at this age can easily become overexcited and will need help to know when they are going too far. This direction may come from your tone of voice or facial expression, or by giving your toddler a break between a period of having a laugh, then calming down. You are a very important role model for your child’s behavior; at this age he will copy not only what you want him to do, but also many things that you would rather he didn’t! One of the most effective methods of getting him “on the right track” is to show him what you want him to do. This period of learning is all about showing, not telling. Let your toddler watch, observe, and try for himself.
By the age of 2-3, your toddler’s anxiety about being separated from you is gradually diminishing, only to be replaced by a range of fears stimulated by his developing imagination and awareness of the wider world. it is natural for toddlers to be scared of new experiences at this age, but their anxiety will usually pass if it is carefully handled.
Children show anxiety in a variety of ways. Some cry, others may become very quiet, clingy, or whiny. Nervous tics are also quite common at this age – that is, involuntary muscle spasms that children cannot control-such as rapid blinking or twitching; but most disappear of their own accord. Whatever the signs, your child needs to be reassured. Each time you hug him and help him to cope, you are increasing his chances of being able to manage his feelings and deal with stress as he grows up. Children who are reprimanded rather than comforted will worry and become more anxious more often. They are also more likely to develop later behavioral problems such as phobias, bed-wetting, or soiling.

Golden Rules To Teach To Our Children
March 27, 2010 by Victor Rosen

Do you worry about this country’s future when you look at the youth of today? I certainly do, and I think parents have to step in and make sure there kids have strong set of values.
If you do everything for your kid they will grow up to think that’s the way that life is and they will vastly underachieve. You only get out of life what you put into it and they need to get it through their heads that commitment, hard work and consistency goes a long, long way.
For most of our kids, the closest they come to experiencing life is by going to the mall! Get them out there to experience different cultures and visit places of interest. Experience will increase their knowledge and understanding without them even realizing it.
The family doesn’t exist as it once did, fact. Divorces, violent relationships and lack of time spent together have led to most families now all leading separate lives. This isn’t an easy one to fix and may never be, but we must at least try. Respect and responsibility are two places to start, spending time together will make these easier to implement.
Cut down on the media that overwhelms your kids. There is little substance to it and quite frankly they aren’t gaining much from sitting in front of a TV.
Young minds are like a sponge and absorb information at an alarming rate, but when that info all comes from the trash on TV we should be very worried. When they start to think that the program is reality we have a real problem. This is a major issue that needs addressing as soon as we possibly can.
Get your kids out in the fresh air to take part in some activities away from their gaming console. This and other pastimes have become a way of life for some kids to the point of obsession. Gaming, like everything else should be monitored and kept to a minimum.
Make an effort with your kids and try and get them out of their bedroom and onto a sports field or to go to a club that specializes in an activity that they enjoy doing. These kind of things all shape young minds and can go along way to creating well rounded adults.
Getting Rid Of Parental Stress
December 23, 2009 by Andrew John
Having children is one of the best things one can experience. However, this does not come for free. Most parents experience a lot of stress caused by the children and the responsibility for them. Once children are born we rarely have more than a week in a row without worrying about our kids. Unless you really want to go nuts, it is an imperative to learn how to cope with such situation – fast.
First, remember that you should be calm. In situations where you can’t keep yourself together much longer, just walk away and take a few deep breaths. How can you know that the time is right? It’s simple: if you clench your fists and hear your voice rising, the stress attack is on the way. A few minutes more and you will lose your temper unless you go away. Remember that screaming will not do any good, even for you. If you have to scream, do it alone.
Speak your mind, even if it hurts. If you decide to let the situation spin out of control because you ignored the first signs of a problem, you’re the only one to blame. You can’t count on your children that they know what makes you stressed or what you want them to do unless you tell them. Avoid confrontation and you will end extremely stressed about more and more things until you won’t be able to hide it anymore and explode, possibly ruining the relationships you might have with your children.
Another thing is that you have to remain in control of a situation. Never let it follow its own course if you feel it’s not going to end well. If your kids are going to do something improper, bad or simply stupid, be the first to tell them that. If you can’t cope with the problem otherwise, use everything you have in your power (including grounding and similar punishments) to keep your children from doing things you don’t accept. Explain your reasons to them, but never let them make big mistakes – it is the shortest way for a parent to suffer a nervous breakdown.
Remember that even the smallest problems can greatly increase the parent’s stress level. In order to keep it in check, you have to always be able to relax, make sure that everything is under control and breath deeply anytime you meet a stressful situation. Also, solve the problems that cause you stress right away. Remember that when we talk about children, no problem can just go away. They will aggravate until you actually do something.

Tips On How To Get Pregnant Fast

For some couples, getting pregnant can be a nightmare. Statistics show that around eighty five percent of couples who have regular unprotected intercourse will become pregnant within a year. If you are one of the twenty five percent of couples who have been trying for over a year without results, then you may have fertility problems.
It is conventionally taken that after about thirty a womans fertility will decline and after around forty a mans will, though far less steeply than a woman’s, making age a factor is fertility problems. Conception is said to take three or four times longer once a woman is over thirty five.
Chances are if you are thirty five and wanting a baby, you don’t want to wait for three of four more years, so finding out how to get pregnant fast and naturally is your best option. Getting pregnant fast is possible with natural methods no matter if you are thirty five or forty five despite what the conventional wisdom tells us.
Knowing your menstrual cycle inside out is the first imperative step. You need to know when you ovulate, so that you can try for your baby at the right times. I know it sounds obvious, but there is an astonishing amount of women who don’t understand their cycles and so have been trying at the wrong times and thus taking longer to get pregnant.
Keeping a record of your basal body temperature is one way to know when ovulation occurs, as your temperature will rise at this time. You can also purchase a mini microscope which will show the cellular pattern of your saliva. Hormonal changes at ovulation affect the pattern of your saliva, so you can see the exact times to try.
Preparing the soil, or taking care of your general health is also very important. Folic acid is a crucial factor in pregnancy, so including supplements and folate-rich foods such as legumes and green leafy veggies in your diet is important for your fertility. If you have any ovarian problems such as fibroids or cysts, you need to also deal with this problem, as it can be a huge inhibitor to pregnancy and cause serious infertility problems.
Don’t rush into surgery or heavy medication for fibroids and cysts unless absolutely necessary, because despite what the medicos and pharmaceutical companies say, there are natural ways to shrink and manage fibroids and cysts. It is important to understand that many fertility drugs and procedures can actually cause longer term damage to your reproductive system and your delicate hormonal balance, especially since there are alternative natural treatments which can help you get pregnant fast, and safely.
Fertility treatments such as IVF and heavy medications can have serious side effects and complications and can cause more fertility problems in the long run. There is the common problem of multiple births for a start, and the emotional upheaval that hormonal treatments can cause, not to mention the side effects of playing around with your hormones on such a strong level.
Getting pregnant fast is easy if you do everything you can to help. Your body tells you when there is an imbalance inside and infertility is one of the signs, usually the result of multiple factors. That is why taking a drug for one aspect of the fertility puzzle can sometime achieve no results at all. You can get pregnant quickly and easily without resorting to drugs by treating your body as a whole and tackling every aspect of the fertility puzzle, not just one side.
You can achieve your dream of a healthy baby and a natural pregnancy fast. Understanding your body and how to tackling every piece of the fertility puzzle will get you fast results.
No More Tears – How To Sleep All Through The Night
November 11, 2009 by Rachel Ann
Many families with small children are tormented by sleepless nights, nights where both parents and child doesn’t get enough sleep or sleeps very poorly. Having good sleeping routines and a safe place to sleep is very important for the child, and if this is the case sleeping quality and quantity will improve immensely.
Sleep is important for everyone – adults and children alike. If you are unable to sleep, or if you are woken many times when you want to sleep, it may destroy both night and day for you. For sleep is invigorating for the soul and body.
During sleep a lot happens in both the brain and the body. You can compare some of what happens in the brain, with how to keep tidy in a computer. For example, the files are placed in the right places, the hard disk is cleansed of noise (fragments of files), and that things are placed appropriately. Dreams can be compared with a kind of cleanup program where the consciousness is purified, old scraps are thrown out, and topics are put together in new and constructive ways.
Rest and sleep lets the body to regenerate muscles, cells and tissue. When we sleep the body produces and releases various substances in much greater quantity than when we are awake. This includes for instance growth hormones and hormones that regulate the milk production in lactating women.
If you, night after night, are awakened every time you have just fallen asleep, most people, as the nights go, becomes depressed, psychotic or have other psychiatric disorders. It is scary to think that this is used as a torture instrument. But it also tells us, that the parents must prioritize to get their sleep back, both for sake of the child, but also for the adults.
There are so many arguments to prioritize the good sleep in any family. But to fall asleep and sleep is not necessarily something that happens all by itself for all children. An important foundation for sleep is a good place to sleep.
Falling asleep
The child sleeps much dream sleep, called REM sleep. The type of sleep is shallow, and the baby is breathing irregularly, the eyes have quick, small movements behind closed eyelids (Rapid Eye Movements), and many babies wake up easily when they are in this stage. Most also easily falls back asleep. So wait a little, and don’t do anything until you have seen, if the child falls asleep again. Perhaps a slight humming is enough, or a gentle touch on the forehead or over the muzzle. For many children, the first superficial sleep well last 20 minutes to hour.
When a child is tired, it must be allowed to sleep. The child sleeps better if it has a clean diaper, is full and the temperature is pleasant. If it can be avoided, don’t accustom your baby to sleep with a breast or a pacifier in his or hers mouth. It is also unwise to accustom the child to hold the father’s or mother’s hand when it is about to sleep. Then the pacifier, the breast or the hands will be the signal to that now is the time to sleep for the child. Crying can also work the same way if the child gets used to cry before sleeping. The trick is to make the child falls asleep without any specific stimuli.
It is not good for any children for them to cry themselves to sleep. A child that cries must be comforted. If something is wrong, you must help the child. Food, clean diaper, less light or less noise or more security. Is the child sick, then you must consider what is wrong. Is it hot (signs of fever)? Is it cold? Is it a stomach ache? Is this constipation? Consider wether a health visitor or doctor should be contacted and asked for advice.

Interview Tips to Help You Find Baby Sitter Applicants
November 10, 2009 by Rashel Dan
You can find baby sitter applicants in a lot of places. A simple ad posted on a community board can attract potential sitters from all walks of life. The real trouble is in finding the baby sitter who is just right for your family. One way to discover a good sitter is to conduct a comprehensive interview with applicants. Here are some tips to help you conduct a good interview.
Make Her Comfortable
You may think it is only an interview. However, even if you are interviewing applicants, you need to be more than just a potential employer. Conduct your interviews in a nice part of your home that is neither too cozy nor too cold. Make sure she has a comfortable chair to sit on and there is nothing potentially irritating like sunlight, insects or noisy children. Taking the effort to make her feel at home is not just a form of courtesy. It is also an effective way of breaking down her guard. It is in these unguarded moments that you get to know more about people and their backgrounds.
Break the Ice
Keep the applicants at ease. One way is to start asking questions that are not threatening. Begin the interview by asking an applicant to tell you a little bit about herself. Ask her where she is from and if she has any younger siblings.
You can also ask her a little bit about her education and goals in life. These questions will get your applicant talking and will provide the starting point for more serious questions. You do have to keep in mind though that there are lines that should be drawn. Do not be too invasive about private matters.
Ask the Obvious
It is likely for you to find baby sitter applicants with resumes. Even so, you do have to ask questions about what is already obviously outlined in resumes. Ask her to expound about her previous baby sitting experiences. She may be able to reveal more about why she likes to baby sit and if she has learned anything from past experiences. This will help you find out if the applicant has interests that go beyond monetary rewards.
Ask Situational Questions
Most parents prefer to hire sitters who can react quickly to situations. In other words parents prefer applicants who know exactly what to do in any given situation. You can test how well an applicant can handle potential situations by asking her what she would do when these situations come up. You could ask her questions which you think are likely to happen especially with your child. If your child has an allergy for example, you can ask the applicant what she would do if your child suddenly had an allergy attack.
Be Observant
There are more ways than one to find out about a person. One other way is to observe non-verbal language. This is especially helpful if you want to find out if your applicant is telling the truth. Watch for signs of nervousness or uneasiness when you ask questions about her background and past experiences.
By now, you must know that it is not always easy to find baby sitter applicants who are actually good. Your search could take a lot of time but the task is not impossible if you know where and how to start.
