Yes, there are instances that you need to have a c-section because of medical reasons. But these cases are naturally rare(it is more often in the States so that the hospitals are making more money). A natural birth without drugs is ALWAYS the best for the mom and the child!! As well there is no need in drugging a mother to be for easing the pain in every case. In our society there is the belief that you should take drugs for every little tiny pain but this is not good. A human being has a pretty high tolerance for pain and therefore there is no need to take anything to suppress a not so heavy pain. Most likely you will not die from that. By the way I am as well a mother of 2 and the births have been easy and natural. You are certainly right to have a birth plan and I hope that it will be always the natural way.
